2. Scope & Objectives
This Method Statement describes the complete procedure for executing Piling Works safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications and applicable Indian Standards.

5. Health & Safety Hazards
Specific Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements shall be implemented throughout all piling activities. All personnel shall comply with the approved Project Safety Plan and statutory regulations.
- Movement of piling rigs and heavy machinery.
- Working near suspended loads.
- Pile collapse during lifting or pitching.
- Excavation collapse.
- Noise and vibration during pile driving.
- Flying debris from hammer impact.
- Electrical hazards from nearby utilities.

6. Responsibilities
6.1 Project Engineer
- Execute piling work according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Ensure all manpower, equipment and materials are available.
- Coordinate with Client, Consultant and Project Manager.
- Ensure quality control requirements are followed.
- Ensure all HSE requirements are implemented.
6.2 Site Engineer
- Supervise daily piling activities.
- Provide work instructions to construction team.
- Monitor progress against project schedule.
- Coordinate inspections with QA/QC Engineer.
- Maintain proper alignment and pile locations.
- Coordinate with Surveyor.
6.3 QA / QC Engineer
- Inspect completed works.
- Verify compliance with specifications.
- Maintain inspection records.
- Arrange client inspections.
- Approve completed stages before proceeding.
6.4 Safety Engineer
- Implement Project HSE Plan.
- Conduct toolbox talks.
- Inspect work areas regularly.
- Ensure PPE compliance.
- Investigate unsafe conditions.
- Maintain safe working environment.
6.5 Foreman
- Allocate manpower.
- Coordinate with Site Engineer.
- Monitor daily productivity.

6.6 Surveyor

7. Procedure / Method to be Employed
7.1 Preliminary Works
- Review approved drawings.
- Verify benchmark coordinates.
- Locate all pile positions.
- Mark pile centers accurately.
- Check existing underground utilities.
- Arrange access roads for piling rig.
- Ensure working platform is stable.
Pile locations shall be checked jointly by Surveyor, Site Engineer and Consultant before commencement of piling.
7.2 Trial Pile Driving Test
- Carry out trial pile before production piling.
- Use approved piling equipment.
- Drive pile up to design bearing strata.
- Record penetration for every hammer blow.
- Measure rebound.
- Measure penetration depth.
- Prepare Trial Pile Driving Report.
- Obtain Consultant approval.

7.3 Review of Trial Results
- Review pile capacity.

The selected hammer shall be capable of achieving the required penetration and bearing capacity without causing structural damage to the pile.
7.5 Production Pile Driving
- Lift pile safely.
- Position accurately over pile mark.
- Check verticality before driving.
- Maintain hammer alignment.
- Continue driving without unnecessary interruption.
- Record blow count.
- Monitor penetration.
- Monitor pile movement continuously.
- Protect pile head using approved cushion.
- Replace damaged cushion immediately.
- Pile damage is observed.
- Unexpected obstruction is encountered.
- Specified penetration cannot be achieved.
- Pile deviates beyond permissible limits.
- Equipment malfunction occurs.
7.6 Driving Sequence
- Drive piles from interior towards outside.
- Avoid excessive ground displacement.
- Prevent damage to adjacent piles.
- Prevent excessive soil densification.

10. Health & Safety Provisions
- Safety shall receive the highest priority throughout piling operations.

- Barricading and warning signs shall be installed around work areas.
- Excavations shall be properly protected against collapse.
- Maintain safe distance from operating piling rigs.
- Daily equipment inspections shall be conducted.
- Fire extinguishers shall be available during gas cutting and welding.
- Good housekeeping shall be maintained throughout the site.
- Emergency response procedures shall be communicated to all workers.
